Obviously only interested in money.

West Brom's Matheus Pereira has joined Saudi Professional League side Al Hilal

Any Saudi Club was 12/1 on Monday with Sky Bet. Now 1/5. Would have been a nice little earner! Looks like this one is dead in the water for us now. I really thought he’d choose a decent contract with us over going to Saudi.

South Americans (particularly Brazilians) do tend to chase the money.

That’s why you used to see so many playing in Russia and Ukraine, and now you see them in the Middle East.

From his statement it seems 100% he is going overseas and earning a handsome salary that will set up him and his family. Yes it's not probably the route to take if you are bothered by a status and a football career but if he has the opportunity, is up for the culture in the middle east and it's a proper deal then good luck to him.

Re: Pereira from WBA....
I honestly dont think we will get any signing of note in this window anyway. Lingard can do one as can OGshithead. Don't really want the guy playing for us now anyway.

What I don't understand is why we are looking too offload players. Surely the group stage of the Europa league is a good time to mix 1st team with youth and fringe players. Play a stronger team at home and mix it up in the away games. None of our players should be sold or let go or let out on loan. It's utter madness.

Current reports saying he's signing in Saudi despite other offers.

One report saying Watford are trying to get him on a loan to buy option.

If he goes to Saudi I'd be disappointed in him.

If he goes to Watford I'd be disappointed in West Ham.

Would it really surprise anyone if Sullivan was using Pereira's name to get Lingard's price down?

Trundle

Lanzini was an unusual case in the sense he went straight from South America to the Gulf.

If you've made it to the Premier League already and you have the opportunity to continue to play in the Premier League at what should be the peak of your career... but you choose to go to Saudi... To me that raises huge questions.

Lee Trundle 7:03 Mon Aug 2
Re: Pereira from WBA....
So you wouldn't have bought Lanzini then, Fifth?

I don't blame him. He's probably earn close to double what we'd offer him and it'll be untaxed.

Re: Pereira from WBA....
I'm not sure I would want to sign a player prepared to go to China or Saudi at his age. If he signs for any PL club he'll get a fortune. Maybe not the same amount as for a Saudi team but a huge amount. Who'd go to pay in Saudi for 5 million when you could play in the Prem for £3 million.

It just says to me he's more interested in money than playing football. I know they're nearly all greedy but at least most are greedy and have some ambition

Re: Pereira from WBA....
We’re currently 4/7 on Sky Bet to sign him and the bookies usually have a fair idea of what’s going on. Any Saudi Club is 12/1. Any offer from us would no doubt at least double his wage and on a 4/5 year deal, which would be life changing. Although I reckon his life right now isn’t too shabby!

We’ve been linked with him for a while now and I reckon there’s substance behind that.

Lee Trundle 6:14 Mon Aug 2
Re: Pereira from WBA....
He's come out with a statement saying he want to leave, but in a fair and correct manner.

And also said he received a life changing offer for him and his family 3 weeks ago.

That can't be us, so my reckoning he wants to go to Saudi and get paid handsomely.

We should move on to the next target if that's the case, although I guess we still haven't moved on from LOMBARD like some jilted ex.

All I hear today though, is that Moyes and Sulli are working hard on new additions.

Phew!
That's a releif!

The board operate on the premise that ALL (that means everyone, not everyone except you) are as thick as pig-shit and can't remember what they had for breakfast, let alone in the last few transfer windows.

They will REMAIN working with that assumption until the unexpected (for them) happens.

scott_d 9:18 Mon Aug 2
Re: Pereira from WBA....
So latest news is that Pereira is not a main target or at least not our no.1 target.

Which means that he will almost certainly sign for someone else while we focus on and miss out on our main targets leaving us with emergency deals in the last few days of the deadline.

Where have we seen this before?

Manuel 3:44 Mon Aug 2
Re: Pereira from WBA....
Agree with that ioc, they are not exactly the same type of player. Lingard is more of an all round energetic type of player than Periera.

As you say it would probably be a bit lightweight with both Periera and Benrahama in midfield. That said the sources linking us to Periera did seem very credible, so who knows what's going on.

Like a lot of things on WHO, that's a bit of an overgeneralization. He was as effective in some of them as he was in games like Fulham, true, but he added enough to get us across the line in others.

He has the ability to add more in areas I mentioned, maybe that is what Moyes sees. If it is true that is who he wants.

I know nothing like most of us, just a different kind of player than Pereira and Benhrama for me.

I would take Pereira myself.

IOC you must have missed the last 5 or 6 games when he couldn't bo bothered to do fuck all then.

I saw him doing at lot more defensively and physically than Periera. Probably better on the straight break as well.

If we get the same amount of effort, second time round remains to be seen.
